Phil has spent his entire career working in media technology. He currently serves as Vice President of Product at Vilynx, a startup devoted to providing major media companies advanced AI and Machine Learning technologies that increase engagement and operational efficiency. With its proprietary self-learning brain, Vilynx has delivered impressive results for its media partners and is revolutionizing how machines understand content. In his role, Phil helps shape Vilynx's media AI products such as content metadata, video indexing, search and personalization. Phil received a bachelor’s degree in multimedia journalism and mass communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before joining Vilynx, he spent 11 years at NBC News in roles including UX creative director of Today.com and head of video and personalization product for NBC News Digital, where he utilized machine learning to increase engagement and personalize user experiences. As an engineer, Phil architected and developed digital products used by millions daily as well as content management systems and interactive editorial features. Passionate about the intersection of AI and media, Phil has spent the last few years focused on how ML/AI can be used to tackle the specific challenges and use cases within the media industry. He currently splits his time between New York City and Barcelona.
